CHESTERFIELD, Mo. — September 30, 2026 — Nearly 50 years after Dick and Sally Dean opened a Volkswagen dealership on Manchester Road, Dean Team Automotive Group is beginning another major chapter in its St. Louis history.

Second-generation owners Pat and Bill Dean have officially broken ground on a new Dean Team Hyundai dealership in Chesterfield Valley — an approximately $20 million investment that will create a state-of-the-art Hyundai sales and service facility on nine acres near Interstate 64/Highway 40.

The approximately 40,000-square-foot dealership, located at 738 Long Road Crossing Drive, Chesterfield, Missouri 63005, is targeted to open in October 2027 and is expected to house approximately 95 employees.

The existing Dean Team Hyundai location on Manchester Road in Ballwin will remain fully operational throughout construction and continue serving customers until the new Chesterfield facility opens.

A New Level of Customer Service

The new standalone dealership is being designed around Hyundai’s latest facility standards and will dramatically expand Dean Team Hyundai’s sales, service and vehicle-reconditioning capabilities.

Plans include an expansive glass-front showroom, a large modern indoor service reception drive, more than 25 service bays, state-of-the-art alignment equipment, dedicated vehicle cleanup and reconditioning facilities, a car wash and expanded customer amenities. The nine-acre property will also provide significantly more room for new and pre-owned vehicle inventory, customer parking and dealership operations.

“We’re really excited about what this new facility means for our customers, our employees and the future of Dean Team Hyundai. We’ve simply outgrown our current Hyundai facility in Ballwin. This new location gives us the space and technology to take our customer experience to another level — from a larger showroom and service drive to more than 25 service bays and state-of-the-art equipment. We’ve been serving St. Louis since 1978, and this nearly $20 million investment shows our commitment to continuing to serve this community for many years to come. We want to build something our customers will enjoy, our employees will be proud to work in, and the next generation of the Dean family will be proud to carry forward.”

A St. Louis Family Business Since 1978

The Dean Team story began in 1978, when Dick and Sally Dean opened a Volkswagen dealership on Manchester Road. What began as a single family-operated dealership would grow over the following decades into Dean Team Automotive Group.

Dick and Sally raised seven children, and the Dean Team story has always been a true family effort. Over the years, Pat Dean, Bill Dean, Jim Dean, Molly Dean Newberry, the late Mary Jinkerson and Barb Dean have all been part of the family’s connection to the dealerships and the business. Molly’s husband, Tim Newberry, has also been a longtime part of the Dean Team family and continues to work in the business. Family members grew up pitching in wherever they were needed, learning firsthand the value of taking care of customers, employees and the dealerships themselves.

Pat and Bill Dean are part of that second generation. Both were born and raised in the St. Louis area, grew up in West St. Louis County and attended Lafayette High School along with their siblings. They eventually assumed leadership of the family business and continued expanding Dean Team while maintaining its roots in the St. Louis community.

Pat and Bill also credit the support of their wives, Michelle Dean and Erin Dean, who have been alongside the family through the growth and evolution of Dean Team over the years. That extended family support has helped preserve the community-minded, family-business culture that Dick and Sally established in 1978.

“Our parents started this business with one dealership and a belief that if you take care of your customers and your employees, the business will take care of itself. Nearly 50 years later, we’re still building on those same values. This new dealership is a big investment in Chesterfield, but more importantly, it’s an investment in our people, our customers and the St. Louis community that has supported our family for generations.”

The Third Generation

Today, the Dean family automotive story is entering its third generation. Family members Ike Dean, Timmy Newberry, Connolly Dean, Kelly Dean and Rich Jinkerson are now involved in the business, continuing a family tradition that started with Dick and Sally nearly five decades ago.

The new Hyundai facility is being designed not simply for today’s business, but as a long-term investment intended to serve Dean Team customers, employees and the St. Louis community for decades to come.

A Longstanding Relationship With Hyundai

Dean Team added the Hyundai franchise in 1990, establishing a relationship with the manufacturer that now spans more than 35 years. The move from Ballwin to Chesterfield Valley represents the next stage of that relationship and gives Dean Team Hyundai substantially more room to accommodate the growth of its sales and service operations.

The new dealership’s location just west of Long Road provides convenient access to Interstate 64/Highway 40 and places the dealership in the heart of the Chesterfield Valley commercial corridor.

Investing in St. Louis

Dean Team Automotive Group currently employs approximately 280 people throughout its St. Louis-area operations. Approximately 95 employees are expected to be based at the new Dean Team Hyundai facility when it opens.

The organization has grown over the years to represent automotive brands including Hyundai, Volkswagen, Subaru and Volvo, along with pre-owned and specialty automobiles and Dean Team Golf Carts. Despite that growth, the company remains locally owned, family operated and community based.

Dean Team and the Dean family have supported numerous St. Louis-area charities, schools, nonprofit organizations and community initiatives over the years. For Pat and Bill Dean, investing approximately $20 million in Chesterfield Valley is also an investment in the community in which their family has lived and worked for generations.

Looking Toward October 2027

Construction is now underway, with completion and the dealership’s relocation currently targeted for October 2027. Until then, Dean Team Hyundai’s Ballwin dealership will remain open and operate normally, including new and pre-owned vehicle sales, service and parts.

Nearly 50 years and three generations later, Dean Team is still building.
